📖Definition: The extra return investors demand for holding an asset that is less liquid (i.e. harder to buy or sell quickly)
📊Why it matters: Illiquid assets carry more risk (because you can’t exit quickly), so investors require compensation. This premium influences valuations, spreads, and portfolio allocations
💡Example: A corporate bond that trades infrequently might need to offer a 0.5% higher yield compared to a similar bond with active trading to attract buyers — that extra yield is the liquidity premium
